*1. Das is a Wast'l. (Böhmisch Friedland.)
Von einem ungewöhnlich beleibten Menschen. Man sagt auch: Er ist eine dicke Wast'l. In Strasburg, im Münsterthal und im Sundgau die Bezeichnung für Stolle; auch Waschle. Hohe, oben viereckige Milchwecke, wie Pfefferküppchen gestaltet. (Vgl. Frommann, IV, 474.)
*2. Tiroler Wastel.Germania, V, 353.
Eine übliche Bezeichnung aller Tiroler. Wastel ist Koseform von Sebastian. Bam Batschli hôb' i's g'häert, d.i. beim Sebastian (Bastian, Basche, bairisch Basti, Wast'l). (Frommann, III, 537, 18.) Ausserdem kommt noch Schieferwastel in dem Sinne von Schiefernickel vor.
